Today I am reviewing If They Knew by Sophie Flynn, published by Hera Books.

What would you hide to get everything you ever wanted?

After years of infertility and heartbreak, Hannah and Charlie are finally going to get their dream family. Two-year-old Isabelle is a week away from being theirs; they just have to get through the final adoption approval process.

But when a global popstar is found murdered at the celebrity members’ club in their sleepy Gloucestershire village, Hannah fears her past is finally catching up with her. Exposing the truth could see her lose everything… her husband, Isabelle – perhaps even her life.

But Hannah doesn’t realise that Charlie has his own secrets, and, in trying to save her, has put them more at risk than she ever thought possible. As the couple get drawn in further to the murky world of celebrity and murder, they soon find themselves caught in a nightmare, forced to make terrible choices.

How many bad things will a good person do to hold onto what they love?

“They were the perfect couple…Until the body was found…”

Long buried secrets from the past threaten to ruin one couple’s chances of adopting a child in this gripping and intense psychological thriller.

This is the first book I have read from Sophie Flynn and what a great introduction to her work this was for me. I was immediately invested in the story as well as Hannah and Charlie’s characters.

The relationship between Hannah and Charlie generated a range of emotions and I felt each and every one of them. From their pain of not being able to conceive naturally and multiple failed IVF attempts. to elation at adopting Isabelle, to then shear terror at the possibility of losing her.

The mystery of Hannah’s past unraveled in flashbacks that built up the suspense in the present where we learn of her connection with murdered superstar Jesse Carter. The twists and turns made things interesting in terms of how it all played out.

Overall I enjoyed this page turner, Flynn’s style of storytelling and I look forward to reading more from her.

Thank you to Sophie Flynn, Hera Books and NetGalley for allowing me to read an advance copy of If They Knew, which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

This review will be added to, Goodreads, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, Amazon Australia, US & UK. I will also add to, Apple Books, Kobo, Google Play Barnes & Noble, Waterstones, Foyles and BookBub if available.
