Today I am taking part in the books on tour and reviewing The Niece by Georgina Cross, published by Bookouture.

I love my family. But can I trust them?

Walking down an airport corridor I see her. My mother’s sister. There is no mistaking we’re related; we have the same long, black hair and brown eyes. But my aunt is the one person in the world my mother told me never to trust.

Nothing feels real right now. My beloved mother was my whole world—she taught me everything and she said she would always be there for me. My last memory is of her screaming at me to get out. Then the flames took her, and she was gone.

Now I have to live with my aunt and I hope she’s changed after all these years. But when I secretly watch her speaking to her friends, she makes it sound like I’m a stranger in her home.

She leaves her bedroom door open and I hear her on the phone to the police late at night. I start to wonder if she had something to do with the terrible fire that ripped my life apart. And my blood turns to ice when the detective asks, what are you hiding?

Is my aunt trying to protect me, or is it time to teach her a lesson?

An utterly addictive psychological thriller about a family with a dark secret at its heart that will make you question everyone you trust. Perfect for fans of The Wife Between UsThe Woman in the Window and Gone Girl.

”You think you know her…You don’t…”

Once again Georgina Cross has weaved her magic and delivered another engrossing and twisty tale. I do love a good family drama and The Niece gave me everything I could’ve hope for and then some!

Set in Alabama, Cross has crafted a plot where long buried secrets from the past collide with the present. I was intrigued by the estrangement of sisters Tara and Beth and what drove them apart and my spidey senses were on high alert with the arrival of Hannah.

There is never a dull moment and with the tension and suspense ramping up with each chapter, makes for a nail biting and thrilling read. I thought I may have finally got one up on Cross as to how it was all going to unfold, but once again she hoodwinked me!

I always go into a book from Cross wanting to savour it and take my time, but it never pans out that way! This was also the case with this book. Fast paced and addictive right from the outset, I could not tear myself away and my poor Kindle struggled to keep up! A cracking read, you definitely need to add The Niece to your to read list.

Thank you to Georgina Cross, Bookouture and NetGalley for allowing me to read an advanced copy of The Niece, which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

This review will be added to, Goodreads, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Amazon Australia & Amazon US.
