Today I am taking part in the blog tour and reviewing The Last Girl to Die by Helen Fields, published by Avon Books.

The island watched and wept…

In search of a new life, seventeen-year-old Adriana Clark’s family moves to the ancient, ocean-battered Isle of Mull, far off the coast of Scotland. Then she goes missing. Faced with hostile locals and indifferent police, her desperate parents turn to private investigator Sadie Levesque.

Sadie is the best at what she does. But when she finds Adriana’s body in a cliffside cave, a seaweed crown carefully arranged on her head, she knows she’s dealing with something she’s never encountered before.

The deeper she digs into the island’s secrets, the closer danger creeps – and the more urgent her quest to find the killer grows. Because what if Adriana is not the last girl to die?

Set on the Isle of Mull off the coast of Scotland, where its history of legends and witchcraft add a fascinating element to a missing persons case, The Last Girl to Die is an outstanding read from beginning to end! It holds you captive like no other and is so addictive.

The mystery is compelling and intriguing, it’s setting casts an ominous and sinister vibe throughout. Themes of misogyny are explored that adds another layer of complexity to the tale. I loved the character of private investigator Sadie Levesque, who doesn’t let the hostility she faces with local law enforcement and the islands residents deter her from the job she has been hired for. Flawed and relatable, she really is the standout.

When I had finished reading this book, I was left with one heck of a book hangover and was so completely shell shocked with its outcome. So much so, that it still plays around in my mind long after having read it. There are not many books and characters that get under my skin, but this one certainly did in spades! Just brilliant!

Thank you to Helen Fields and Avon Books for my gifted copy of The Last Girl to Die, which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
