Today I am taking part in the blog tour and reviewing Open Your Eyes by Heather J. Fitt, published by Bloodhound Books.

A Scottish journalist enters a dark online world in this unsettling novel of men, women, resentment, and rage…

Edinburgh reporter Frankie has finally been assigned a high-profile crime story about a series of sexual assaults, and relishes her big break. Her article focuses on the issue of women’s safety, which doesn’t seem to have improved much since the era of the Yorkshire Ripper.

When Frankie begins to face a torrent of abuse online, she discovers the phenomenon of incels—the men who are trying to stop her from covering the story. But she refuses to back down. What she doesn’t realise is that in this murky online world, one man is being goaded into a spectacular and shocking attack with Frankie as his main target…

“Can you see danger when its right in front of you…”

Open Your Eyes, the debut novel for Heather J. Fitt. is such an outstanding read! This was one of my most anticipated books for the year and it did not disappoint.

A meticulously researched and dark plot that has been brought to life perfectly, Fitt takes the reader into the terrifying world of online Incels and how cruel actions can lead to a person becoming involved, brainwashed and groomed to perform shocking acts of sexual abuse against women.

At times this can be hard to read given its subject matter. It is not sugarcoated in any way and is a very realistic and believable interpretation of this extremely dangerous group. The pace is fast, the characters strong and it is a very addictive read.

A fresh new voice in the literary world, Fitt is definitely one to watch. A natural born storyteller, up there with the likes of Keri Beevis and Carol Wyer, I am so excited to see what she comes up with next!

Thank you to Heather J. Fitt for my gifted copy of Open Your Eyes, which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

This review will be added to, Goodreads, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Amazon Australia & Amazon US.
