BOOK DESCRIPTION
Amy is the perfect landlady. But she does have some ground rules…
Kate has always dreamed of a life in music. And now she’s finally done something about it – giving up her steady job, moving to the city to enroll in a degree program at a prestigious college.
Needing a place to live, she answers an ad and moves in with Amy who seems a nice lady – mothering and protective.
At first Kate is glad to have some support in this strange city, but gradually Amy’s presence becomes more and more stifling – it just seems so hard to get away from her. And every time Kate tries, something terrible happens…
As her life spirals downwards, Kate struggles to understand what’s happening. Is Amy plotting against her? Or is she simply buckling under the stress of adjusting to her new life?
Fearing for her sanity, Kate knows she needs to get some answers and begins to look into the history of the creepy old house she shares with Amy. What she finds is beyond her worst nightmares…
The Tenant, the terrifying psychological thriller perfect for fans of K L Slater, Jane Renshaw, Teresa Driscoll

Embarking on a new start after the breakdown of her relationship, Kate enrols in college to fulfill her dream of studying music. But when she moves in with Amy, strange things start happening and so begins a series of events that will have Kate questioning her own sanity.
A gripping psychological thriller, The Tenant is one very creepy goose-bumpy read! It gave me single white female vibes and had me at times squirming in my seat as I put myself in Kate’s shoes.
The characters are interesting, if not all likeable. Kate is very naive and vulnerable, while Amy is manipulative and her presence suffocating. The story is well written and although it is a slow burn to start with, as it progresses, so does the intensity in the lead up to its satisfying conclusion.
For her first book in the psychological thriller genre, I think Lester has done a good job with this story, which I enjoyed and look forward to reading more from her.
Thank you to Angela Lester, Inkubator Books and NetGalley for allowing me to read an advance copy of The Tenant, which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
This review will be added to, Goodreads, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Amazon Australia & Amazon US. I will also add to NetGalley, Apple Books, Kobo, Google Play and Barnes & Noble if available. As I am from Australia, I am unable to add to Amazon UK, but will post to Waterstones & Foyles if also available.
