Today I am reviewing on its publication day With Friends Like These by Keri Beevis, published by Bloodhound Books.

BOOK DESCRIPTION

On his way to Scotland for a reunion with his university friends, Billy Maguire runs over a pedestrian. But this is only the start of his problems.

Realising the man is alive, Billy puts him in the back seat of his car, planning to leave him outside the nearest hospital. But when the man dies, Billy panics and drives to the reunion with the body in the car, where he begs his friends for help.

Tension swirls within the group at first, but when the dead man’s ID reveals him to be a notorious criminal Dougie McCool, they decide to get rid of the body. The only problem is that some dangerous men are looking for McCool—including his brother, who is willing to brutally exploit the circle of friends to get what he wants.

But will he succeed or can they get away with it?

A reunion of friends in remote Scotland turns into a terrifying ordeal. Will they make it out alive?

Another gripping read from Keri Beevis, With Friends Like These is told through a different style than normally used in her psychological thrillers. This time she injects some dark humor into it which really works well with this story.

No time is wasted getting things going and its strong opening sets the tone. It is character driven and I enjoyed getting to know each of their personalities when told from their perspective. There is a good mix of good and bad (loathsome for one!) which does spice it up.

As always I can never fault Beevis’ writing and the way she executes her stories. They are just engaging, twisty and so thrilling, you find yourself reading long into the night. This was also the case with this book.

Thank you to Keri Beevis for my gifted copy of With Friends Like These, which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

This review will be added to, Goodreads, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Amazon Australia & Amazon US. I will also add to NetGalley, Apple Books, Kobo, Google Play and Barnes & Noble if available. LET’S GET TO KNOW KERI BEEVIS

Keri Beevis is the internationally bestselling author of Dying To Tell and Deep Dark Secrets.

Her other books include the Rebecca Angell Series: M for Murder and D for Dead, and most recently; Trust No One (released November 2020).

She wrote her first novel at age twenty, but it was a further twenty years before she was published after winning a contract in the New Novels Competition 2012.

Born in the village of Old Catton, less than a mile from where Anna Sewell was living when she wrote Black Beauty, Keri had a passion for reading and writing from a young age, though her tastes veered more to the macabre.

Today she still lives in Norfolk, along with her two naughty kitties, Ellie and Lola, and a plentiful supply of red wine (her writing fuel), where she writes a comedic lifestyle column for the Iceni Magazine. She loves Hitchcock movies, exploring creepy places, and gets extremely competitive in local pub quizzes. She is also a self-confessed klutz.
