Today I am taking part in the blog tour and reviewing The Break by Daniel Hurst. This was released on the 13th of March, published by Inkubator Books.
It seems like a lovely little house. But it has dark secrets…
Karen is a busy wife and mother. Between work, her husband Peter, and their two children, Oscar and Noah, she doesn’t have a minute to herself.
So when it all begins to feel too much, Karen knows just what she needs – to get away for a little while. Nothing big. Just a short break.
Her friend, Eve, tells her about a quaint little holiday home, and Karen books herself a short stay. She’ll have time to read, take bubble baths, unwind. Perfect.
But this is no ordinary holiday home – it contains a dark and disturbing secret. Because Karen isn’t alone here – someone is watching her. Waiting for the right moment to spring the trap and plunge her into a nightmare she’ll never forget.
The Break – the stunning psychological thriller from the author of The Passenger and The New Friends.
We all just sometimes need a break to reset from our busy lives, but in this case for one of our protagonists, it could well just be her last! What was supposed to be a relaxing time away enjoying the peace and quite becomes her worst nightmare!
The Break is another gripping read from Hurst where once again I was immediately hooked. Well plotted and written, the multiple point of view narrative keeps things interesting and the more you get into the story, the more compelled you are to keep going.
What I love the most about Hurst’s books is how he just gets on with it resulting in a fast paced, effortless and quick read where the pages just turn themselves. This is also the case for The Break. Suspenseful, twisty and just down right entertaining, this is a must read if you are a fan of the psychological thriller genre.
Thank you to Daniel Hurst, Inkubator Books and Booksprout for allowing me to read an advanced copy of The Break, which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
This review will be added to, Goodreads, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Amazon Australia & Amazon US. I will also add to NetGalley, Apple Books, Kobo, Google Play and Barnes & Noble if available. As I am from Australia, I am unable to add to Amazon UK, but will post to Waterstones & Foyles if also available.

LET’S GET TO KNOW DANIEL HURST
people. He has written all his life, making the progression from handing scribbled stories to his parents as a boy to writing full length novels in his thirties. He lives in the North West of England and when he isn’t writing, he is usually watching a game of football in a pub where his wife can’t find him.
