Today I am taking part in the blog tour and reviewing The Promise by Emily Shiner. This was released on the 6th of February, published by Inkubator Books.

Book Description

Scott will do anything to protect his wife, Erin. That’s why he secretly installs a tracking app on her phone and watches her through hidden cameras in their home.

When he learns there’s a chance one of Erin’s kidneys will fail, he vows to shield her from the truth and find a donor for her at any cost.

That’s how he meets Kathleen. She is the answer to his dreams, a perfect match for Erin. There’s only one problem – Kathleen has no intention of becoming a donor. That doesn’t bother Scott – he is confident he can manipulate her into giving him what he wants.

But Kathleen isn’t as innocent as she looks, she has her own agenda. And she doesn’t care who she hurts as long as she gets what she needs.

As lives hang in the balance, Erin and Kathleen are bound together by a terrible promise. But when that promise is broken, who will pay the ultimate price?

The Promise – the stunning psychological thriller perfect for fans of Teresa Driscoll, Cathryn Grant, Daniel Hurst.

If you break the promise, you pay the price.

How far would you go for the one that you love? That is the million dollar question in this psychological thriller where everyone has an agenda and secrets to hide.

The Promise had me immediately hooked from the blurb and I couldn’t wait to dive in and experience all it had to offer. Whist I did enjoy this book, I did find that it moved on the slightly slower side, but having said that, it’s engaging writing and compelling storyline was enough for me to see it through.

Shiner does a great job with the tension and suspense, ramping it up throughout as the narrative alternates between the main characters and its twists and turns keep everything interesting. The characters are well developed and although not all likeable, they play their roles well.

All round this is an easy read and if you are a fan of this genre you should check it out.

Thank you to Emily Shiner, Inkubator Books and NetGalley for allowing me to read an advanced copy of The Promise, which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

This review will be added to, Goodreads, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Amazon Australia & Amazon US. I will also add to NetGalley, Apple Books, Kobo, Google Play and Barnes & Noble if available. As I am from Australia, I am unable to add to Amazon UK, but will post to Waterstones & Foyles if also available.

Let’s Get to Know Emily Shiner

Emily Shiner always dreamed of becoming an author but first served her time as a banker and a teacher. Now she gets to live out her dream of writing novels and sharing her stories with people around the world.

She lives in the Appalachian Mountains and loves hiking with her husband, daughter, and their two dogs.

Emily writes psychological thrillers. The Secret Wife will be her first novel published with Inkubator Books.
