Today I am reviewing on its publication day The Maid by Nita Prose, published by Harper Collins.
I am your maid.
I know about your secrets. Your dirty laundry.
But what do you know about me?
Molly the maid is all alone in the world. A nobody. She’s used to being invisible in her job at the Regency Grand Hotel, plumping pillows and wiping away the grime, dust and secrets of the guests passing through. She’s just a maid – why should anyone take notice?
But Molly is thrown into the spotlight when she discovers an infamous guest, Mr Black, very dead in his bed. This isn’t a mess that can be easily cleaned up. And as Molly becomes embroiled in the hunt for the truth, following the clues whispering in the hallways of the Regency Grand, she discovers a power she never knew was there. She’s just a maid – but what can she see that others overlook?
Escapist, charming and introducing a truly original heroine, The Maid is a story about how the truth isn’t always black and white – it’s found in the dirtier, grey areas in between…
In the words of Molly the Maid, her job at the Regency Grand Hotel is to restore guest rooms to a state of perfection. For me, this book requires no restoration and is already a state of perfection! I loved absolutely everything about it and was caught up and transported into Molly’s world as she becomes embroiled in a murder case upon discovering one of the VIP guests dead in his bed!
A cozy mystery set in a hotel filled with clandestine activities, the standout in this tale is definitely Molly. What a wonderful, beautiful and quirky character she is. Socially isolated and with a high regard for order and cleanliness, she is a gentle soul just trying to make it on her own after her beloved gran passes away. When her naivety is taken advantage of, I found myself going immediately into protective mode of her and she is a character that will stay with me for a long time to come.
The Maid has it all. A great mystery that is perfectly written, has a diverse cast of characters, some humour and is just an all round entertaining and enjoyable read which I highly recommend and I will be most definitely looking forward to reading more books from Nita Prose in the future.
Thank you to Nita Prose, Harper Collins and NetGalley for allowing me to read an advance copy of The Maid, which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
This review will be added to, Goodreads, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Amazon Australia & Amazon US. I will also add to NetGalley, Apple Books, Kobo, Google Play and Barnes & Noble if available. As I am from Australia, I am unable to add to Amazon UK, but will post to Waterstones & Foyles if also available.
