Today I am reviewing on its publication day The Donor by JJ Burgess, published by Inkubator Books.
She’s carrying his child. But who is he really?
Anna’s life is almost perfect. She has a great husband, a huge home, wonderful friends and a soaring career. There’s just one thing missing – a child.
Anna has always dreamed of being a mother, it’s what she wants more than anything else in the world.
So when it becomes clear that she and her husband can’t conceive, the way forward is obvious – they will use a sperm donor.
They select the perfect candidate and Anna soon falls pregnant. She’s never been so happy.
But then some disturbing information about their donor comes to light. And Anna begins to wonder about the father of the child she is carrying… Who is he really?
She begins to dig for the truth and uncovers a secret more horrifying than her worst nightmare. Because even though she has what she always wanted, she realises she may have to pay a terrible price…
The Donor – the stunning psychological thriller, perfect for fans of Mark Edwards, K L Slater, Miranda Rijks.
The couple who has it all except the child they desperately want. A donor who helps to make their dreams come true, but is not who he appears to be…
This compelling tale tests your morals and really makes you think what would you do if you found yourself in the same situation. It is full of so much tension and suspense and had me completely engrossed and invested in the story and each of the characters, who all play out their roles very well.
I found the writing to be sharp, the pace is steady and overall such a captivating read all round. As a debut, I think Burgess has done such a great job with this book and I look forward to reading more from him.
Thank you to JJ Burgess, Inkubator Books and NetGalley for allowing me to read an advanced copy of The Donor, which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
This review will be added to, Goodreads, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Amazon Australia & Amazon US. I will also add to NetGalley, Apple Books, Kobo, Google Play and Barnes & Noble if available. As I am from Australia, I am unable to add to Amazon UK, but will post to Waterstones & Foyles if also available.
