Today I am reviewing Lost Souls by Jenny O’Brien. This was released on the 21st of May, published by HQ Digital.

Book Description

A MISSING GIRL. A RACE AGAINST TIME.

Ten-year-old Elodie Fry vanishes overnight, along with a rucksack filled with her meagre belongings. Detective Gaby Darin and her team are fighting the clock to reunite Elodie with her distraught mother – but was Elodie kidnapped or did she run?

Later that day, a local undertaker uncovers a nasty surprise: the remains of an unidentified second adult among a late pensioner’s ashes. Torn between the two investigations, Gaby decides the gruesome discovery at the crematorium must wait – the team are desperate to find Elodie before they lose her trail.

But as she follows the evidence, Gaby realises the two cases have a sinister connection… and there’s a killer on the loose.

Can Gaby find the missing girl alive… or is she already too late?

Full of twists and turns, this gripping thriller will keep you hooked to the end. Perfect for fans of Angela Marsons, LJ Ross and D.S. Butler.

How are we already at instalment 4 in this amazing series? It astounds me that each book I read from it, is like reading the opening blockbuster, not a followup in a series. This is such a credit to Jenny O’Brien that she is able to still keep it fresh and Lost Souls is no exception. Once again she smashes it out of the park and has delivered another outstanding read.

Lost Souls sees Detective Gaby Darin step up to acting DI where she is faced with not one or two but 3 what seem to be unrelated cases, that of a missing 10 year old child, an elderly woman, and the discovery of someones remains mixed up in another ones ashes! Whhhaaattt??? Boy does Gaby and her team have their work cut out for them in this one…

I mentioned in my review for instalment 3 (Fallen Angel) that this one was my favourite to date in the series, but Lost Souls has surpassed this! After I buckled up and got comfortable, knowing that anytime I read a book from Jenny O’Brien it is going to be an all nighter, I was taken on one very wicked and twisty ride as I was transported into the pages alongside Detective Gaby Darin in helping solve these cases. It wasn’t easy by any means! Jenny O’Brien keeps her cards very close to her chest in this one.

I hope that this review has not only enticed you to read Lost Souls, but also the other 3 books in this brilliant series, if you haven’t already. It really doesn’t get any better than this one. Each tale is masterfully plotted, perfectly written and researched, always has a cast of first class characters, even the undesirable ones, and just delivers each and every-time. It really is the whole package!

Thank you to Jenny O’Brien, HQ Digital and NetGalley for allowing me to read a copy of Lost Souls, which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

This review will be added to, Goodreads, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Amazon Australia & Amazon US. I will also add to NetGalley, Apple Books, Kobo, Google Play and Barnes & Noble if available. Let’s Get to Know Jenny O’Brien

Born in Dublin, Jenny O’Brien moved to Wales and then Guernsey, where she tries to find time to both read and write in between working as a nurse and ferrying around three teenagers.

In her spare time she can be found frowning at her wonky cakes and even wonkier breads. You’ll be pleased to note she won’t be entering Bake Off. She’s also an all-year-round sea swimmer.
