Today I am reviewing Her Last Holiday by C.L. Taylor. This was released on the 29th of April, published by Avon Books.
You come to Soul Shrink to be healed. You don’t expect to die.
Two years ago, Fran’s sister Jenna disappeared on a wellness retreat in Gozo that went terribly wrong.
Tom Wade, the now infamous man behind Soul Shrink Retreats, has just been released from prison after serving his sentence for the deaths of two people. But he has never let on what happened to the third victim: Jenna.
Determined to find out the truth, Fran books herself onto his upcoming retreat – the first since his release – and finds herself face to face with the man who might hold the key to her sister’s disappearance. The only question is, will she escape the retreat alive? Or does someone out there want Jenna’s secrets to stay hidden?
The master of suspense is back. Prepare yourself for the latest heart-in-mouth rollercoaster ride from the Sunday Times bestseller.
The last thing you would expect when you are on a wellness retreat, is the death of two guests and the disappearance of another. But this is the case at Soul Shrink Retreats where wanting to heal yourself could just well cost you your life in this gripping psychological thriller from C.L. Taylor.
I enjoyed the mystery of this tale and was by Fran’s side in her attempt in trying to find out what happened to her sister Jenna, who disappeared from the retreat without a trace. Like her family, I wanted answers and I was compelled to keep reading until I got them!
What I really like the most about C.L. Taylor’s books is they are always very character driven, which is also the case with this book. I enjoyed the narrative from the points of view of three of the characters, Jenna, Fran and Kate (Tom Wade’s wife) and their uniqueness. Not all likeable, they are well developed, very well written and each bring the story to life.
Her Last Holiday is a clever, slow burning tale that is full of suspense and some good twists. Yes I admit that there were some moments that were out there and beggar belief, but this did not ruin my overall enjoyment of the book. A solid psychological thriller that I found very entertaining.
Thank you to C.L.Taylor, Avon Books and Netgalley for allowing me to read an advanced copy of Her Last Holiday, which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
This review will be added to, Goodreads, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Amazon Australia & Amazon US. I will also add to NetGalley, Apple Books, Kobo, Google Play and Barnes & Noble if available. As I am from Australia, I am unable to add to Amazon UK, but will post to Waterstones & Foyles if also available.
