Today I am reviewing Keep My Secrets by Elena Wilkes. This was released on the 28th of April, published by Hera Books.
A life built on lies – now the truth could destroy her
Frankie Turner knows what it’s like to be unwanted; she was brought up in care. Now as a social worker to kids in the same system, she’s someone who understands … But Frankie is hiding an unthinkable secret: one that may have its roots in the murder of a young, beautiful woman fifteen years ago.
Yet the past is out there. Someone knows what Frankie is hiding – and now they’re back to shatter her perfectly constructed life, terrorizing her with menacing letters and silent calls to the house she shares with husband Alex.
She may have reinvented herself, but Frankie’s past is back to haunt her – and now, there’s nowhere to run.
A gripping psychological thriller that will have you hooked. Fans of Lisa Jewell and Erin Kelly won’t be able to put this one down.
As much as you try, there are times when you can’t outrun your past. It has a way of catching up with you which is the predicament Frankie Turner finds herself faced with in this gripping psychological thriller from Elena Wilkes.
Keep My Secrets is a well plotted and executed story with so many twists and turns, red herrings, secrets and lies. It certainly keeps you on your toes as well as on the edge of seat. I was completely engrossed and gripped from beginning to end.
Told over two timelines covering past and present, I really enjoy when a story is told in this format. It gives you a great insight into the character and Elena Wilkes has done a great job with this technique and with Frankie who is so complex.
My second book by Elena Wilkes, I really like her style. What I particularly liked here is how she keeps her cards close to her chest and does not give anything away too early. There are little curves balls thrown in to lead you off the scent making for a more powerful and jaw dropping outcome once revealed.
It’s been awhile since a psychological thriller has messed with my head and this compelling tale did exactly that! It takes you over and just consumes you. It is a page turner in every sense of the word and highly addictive. All up Keep My Secrets is a very enjoyable and entertaining read.
Thank you to Elena Wilkes, Hera Books and NetGalley for allowing me to read an advanced copy of Keep My Secrets, which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
This review will be added to, Goodreads, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Amazon Australia & Amazon US. I will also add to NetGalley, Apple Books, Kobo, Google Play and Barnes & Noble if available. As I am from Australia, I am unable to add to Amazon UK, but will post to Waterstones & Foyles if also available.
Let’s Get to Know Elena Wilkes
Elena Wilkes grew up in Walsall in the West Midlands and then worked for eighteen years in H.M Prison Service. The people she met there provided the basis for all her novels.
Many of the prisoners there came across as very ordinary people who had committed the most appalling crimes but would, one day, walk straight back on the streets.
This begged the question: how much do we know about anyone, really? The people who live amongst us may seem no different from us at all, but when you scratch a little deeper, you realise they hold some very dark secrets.
