Today I am reviewing My Little Girl by Shalini Boland. This was released on the 22nd of April, published by Bookouture.
Your daughter is missing. Did someone close to you take her?
Seven-year-old Beatrice has gone missing. Her mother Claire’s whole world has been turned upside down in just one moment and she can’t stop shaking. She’s desperate to find her precious daughter, but nothing about the day she disappeared makes sense…
The mother-in-law: Jill was meant to be looking after Beatrice. She says she didn’t take her eyes off the little girl but her version of events doesn’t add up… Claire has never got on with her, so why should she trust her now?
The husband: He should have been with their only child. Instead, he changed the plans without telling Claire. She didn’t think there were any secrets between them, but maybe she was wrong?
The first wife: Laurel has always been jealous of Claire’s family. Has her husband’s ex-wife taken her daughter?
Which one of them is lying? And who really knows where Beatrice is?
From the million-copy bestselling author, this totally addictive psychological thriller will keep you guessing all the way to the final shocking twist. Perfect for fans of The Girl on the Train, Gone Girl and The Wife Between Us.
What should have been a fun day at the fair turns into a nightmare for Claire, when her daughter disappears without a trace whilst in her mother in law’s care, in this gripping psychological thriller from one of my favourite authors.
Once again Shalini Boland gives the reader one heck of a read that pulls you into the pages and holds you captive right from the get go. I nearly gave myself an injury as I furiously flicked the pages on my Kindle in my desperation to find out what happened to Beatrice.
Told from the points of view from Claire and her mother in law Jill, there is also an unknown sinister voice in their own dedicated chapters scattered throughout, which adds to its ominous vibe. I did not know who I could trust as each became a suspect in my mind.
As always I can’t fault Shalini Boland’s writing which draws you in like a moth to a flame. She sure does know how to get a readers attention and keep it throughout as she takes you along for the ride experiencing the story as her characters do. This was no different with My Little Girl.
My Little Girl is an entertaining read and with each chapter leaving you wanting more, makes for it impossible to put down. Full of tension and suspense and a few twists and turns, Shalini Boland has delivered another cracking story for her readers.
Thank you to Shalini Boland, Bookouture and NetGalley for allowing me to read an advanced copy of My Little Girl, which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
