Today I am reviewing Deadly Obsession by OMJ Ryan. This was released on the 25th of April, published by Inkubator Books.

Book Description

Some murders are so perfect they just have to be done again.

The body of a naked woman is discovered in a Manchester park. Her murder has all the hallmarks of a notorious killer known as the Suffolk Strangler. But there’s a problem – the Strangler is serving a life sentence in prison.

So is this just a coincidence? Or is there a copycat killer on the prowl?

As DCI Jane Phillips and her Major Crimes team begin to piece together the victim’s final hours, another body is discovered, and this time it’s a carbon copy of murders committed by the infamous Muswell Hill Murderer.

Now Phillips is in no doubt – she’s chasing a psychopath who has been inspired by Britain’s most horrifying serial killers. As the body count rises, psychological profiler Dr Siobhan Harris joins the team and little by little they begin to build a picture of a terrifying predator.

But their opponent is smart, careful, and always seems to be one step ahead.

Can Phillips stop the killer before another brutal murder is meticulously restaged? Or will even more victims be consumed by this deadly obsession?

A psychopathic copycat killer is on the loose causing havoc for the major crimes team with a thrilling cat and mouse game in this fifth instalment in the outstanding DCI Jane Phillips series.

Deadly Obsession is a chilling tale that just may be DCI Jane Phillips and her team’s toughest case yet. Faced with a calculating and oh so deranged killer, this is one read that will have you glued to the pages waiting to see what their next move is going to be. The tension and suspense is off the charts, as is the pressure on Jane from higher above to the solve the case as the body count keeps rising.

What I particularly loved in this instalment is how we get the point of view from the killer. Right from the get go the reader is taken into the dark depths of their mind, which is just so terrifying. I think they are the most chilling and unforgettable serial killer the series has seen yet!

I am starting to sound like a broken record when It comes to how much I love this series, which as I keep saying, just goes from strength to strength as each instalment is released. OMJ Ryan does such a great job of keeping each book fresh and the reader engaged. For me, there just won’t be enough books in this fantastic series!

Fast paced and action packed, Deadly Obsession is a must read for fans of crime thrillers. While it can be read as a standalone, I do encourage you to read this series from the beginning as you would be missing out on four other outstanding reads! Thanks for another brilliant read OMJ Ryan and I will be impatiently waiting for what you come up with next for Jane and the team.
