Today I am reviewing An Eye For An Eye by Carol Wyer. This was released on the 1st of February, published by Thomas & Mercer.

Book Blurb

A killer running rings around the police. A detective spiralling out of control.

DI Kate Young is on leave. She’s the force’s best detective, but her bosses know she’s under pressure, on medication and overcoming trauma. So after her bad judgement call leads to a narrowly averted public disaster, they’re sure all she needs is a rest.

But when Staffordshire Police summon her back to work on a murder case, it’s a harder, more suspicious Kate Young who returns. With a new ruthlessness, she sets about tracking down a clinical, calculating serial killer who is torturing victims and leaving clues to taunt the police. Spurred on by her reporter husband, Young begins to suspect that the murderer might be closer than she ever imagined.

As she works to uncover the truth, Young unravels a network of secrets and lies, with even those closest to her having something to hide. But with her own competence—and her grip on reality—called into question, can she unmask the killer before they strike again?

The odds seem stacked against Detective Kate Young in this story. She has been traumatised, which has resulted in her taking time off and getting support, including going on medication to help her manage her mental health. Now she needs to put all of that to the side to focus on capturing a killer who seems to delight in tormenting his victims. Will she get through it with her mind intact and put the killer behind bars?

I love getting into a new series and when it is Carol Wyer at the helm, you instantly know you are going to get a cracking read! I have yet to be proven wrong on this front and An Eye for an Eye just cements this view even more! What.A.Read! Carol Wyer has crafted another heart pounder that is such a brilliant introduction to this new series.

I really enjoy getting to know new characters and Kate Young is another one that I connected with right off the bat. Carol Wyer has always done such an amazing job with her female leads and Kate is no exception. Strong, not afraid to stand up for herself and others, while also showing us her vulnerable side, is what makes her so real and believable. I look forward to getting to know her more in future books.

What I love most about Carol Wyer’s work is, she just gets on with it and and there is no time to settle in before she puts her foot down hard on the accelerator. An Eye for an Eye is no exception and it also moves at breakneck speed! I lost track of time and everything around me as I raced through the pages.

Gripping, intense, perfectly written and just pure Carol Wyer gold, An Eye for an Eye is a masterclass in the crime thriller genre. I could not get enough and can not wait until the next instalment. It was an absolute pleasure to read and review another stellar read from the “Queen of Crime”which I highly recommend.

Thank you to Carol Wyer, Thomas & Mercer and NetGalley for allowing me to read an advanced copy of An Eye for an Eye, which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

This review will be added to, Goodreads, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Amazon Australia & Amazon US. I will also add to NetGalley, Apple Books, Kobo, Google Play and Barnes & Noble if available.
